Critique from the 2011 Poodle National by Judge, Mr Luis Azicorbe (USA)

This striking brown dog caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. I loved his size, bone and shortest of backs and the elegance he displayed as he circled the ring with his head and tail carried high. His topline was perfection. He moved true and balanced at both ends and stood on good feet. He was shown in bloom in the English Saddle and his head was gorgeous; refined with the proper underjaw and a small dark eye and expression that would melt any lover of this breed. Although I hate this overused expression, I am compelled to say that a Poodlier Poodle did not appear before me during the course of this show. Had his handler, in the excitement of the moment, not attempted to catch up with the winning Standard and Miniature during Best in Show judging, which this dog could neither do due to his size nor structure, he would have been my top winner. He was awarded the Challenge Certificate and Best of Breed Toy.
